Nabaltec GmbH

Aluminium oxide raw materials for the refractory and ceramic industry

Nabaltec GmbH

Founded in 1936 by VAW Aluminium AG as an aluminium oxide production centre, NABALTEC became an independent company after acquiring the Nabwerk plant in Schwandorf, Bavaria, Germany, in 1995. With a product range shaped around customer requirements, NABALTEC holds a strong worldwide market position in high-quality aluminium oxide products. The company places great importance on quality assurance and quality management and holds DIN EN ISO 9001 certification. Aluminium oxide (Al2O3) is the most important ceramic raw material used in the refractory industry, in polishing products and in high-technology applications. As a flame-retardant filler, aluminium oxide also allows plastics to be used safely.

NABALOX®

Nabaltec produces calcined aluminium oxide for the refractory and ceramic industries using the BAYER process. In the selection of raw materials, attention is paid to key parameters such as chemical purity, particle size distribution, crystal size and crystal structure. The calcination process determines the alpha Al2O3 content and the structure, size and morphology of the primary crystals. The desired product properties are optimised through grinding, screening, granulation and forming.

Nabalox® aluminas offer properties such as high wear and impact resistance, electrical insulation, high mechanical strength, high temperature resistance, dimensional accuracy and optimised chemical durability.

GRANALOX®

Nabaltec produces ready-to-press ceramic bodies for isostatic parts, containing 92%, 96% and 99% Al2O3. These ceramic bodies suit applications requiring the properties characteristic of corundum materials: high hardness, high wear resistance, good thermal shock resistance, electrical insulation at high temperatures, thermal conductivity and very good corrosion resistance.

Granalox

ACTILOX®

Nabaltec’s Actilox® product line consists primarily of boehmite (AlO(OH) - aluminium oxide hydroxide) and specially processed aluminium hydroxide derivatives. Engineered for high chemical purity, specific particle size distributions and high-temperature reactivity, these products serve several critical industrial purposes.

Refractory materials: Highly reactive Actilox grades are used as raw materials or binders in shaped and unshaped refractory masses, as well as low-alkali accelerators in refractory concretes.
